Autumn in the Body: Tending to the Inner World

How the Season Affects Our Energy, Skin & Spirit – Part Three Of "Autumn In The Body Series"

Cozy bathroom with blue vintage tub, surrounded by candles, flowers, and a pink towel; window view of autumn trees sets a serene mood.
Baths are my favourite way to tend to my inner world in autumn. The warmth, the stillness, the ritual of it all—this is where I pause, breathe, and come back to myself.

Tending to Your Inner World

Autumn is a beautiful time to care for the parts of yourself that don’t always get attention in the busier seasons. In this "Autumn In The Body' post we look at - The inner world—your emotions, your spirit, your nervous system—craves gentleness now more than ever.

If you’ve been feeling more tired, more sensitive, or more emotionally attuned lately, you’re not alone. These are natural responses to the slowing of the season.

Here are some gentle practices you might explore to tend to your inner world during this time:

  • Journaling by soft light – Let your thoughts unfold slowly. You don’t need to figure everything out. Sometimes writing is simply about hearing yourself.

  • Using essential oils to support mood – Try grounding scents like clary sage or vetiver, or gently uplifting oils like sweet orange or geranium.

  • Switching off from screens in the evening – Create space for stillness. Let your mind unwind as the day ends.

  • Enjoying a warm bath or shower with intention – Let it be a ritual of release and relaxation, not just a routine.

  • Sitting by a fire or candlelight with a warm drink – Even a simple cup of hot water becomes sacred when you drink it slowly and mindfully.

  • Spending time in nature alone – A walk in the bush, a few deep breaths under an open sky, or a weekend retreat to reset your nervous system.

  • Practicing breathwork, gentle movement, or meditation – These are simple but profound ways to return to yourself.

If you’re looking for support beyond your own practices, this is a beautiful time to explore nurturing treatments like:

  • Massage or body rituals to ground the body

  • Foot scrubs to reconnect with the earth

  • Reiki and sound healing to clear energy and support deep emotional rest

  • Soul Sessions to reflect, realign, and feel held through life’s transitions

You don’t need to do everything. Just choose one or two things that feel good and let them become part of your rhythm.

Next Week: Releasing & Preparing for Winter

Next week, we’ll move into the final part of the series: a gentle guide to letting go—clearing space in the body, the home, and the spirit, to make room for winter’s deeper wisdom.

Until then, honour your pace, soften your routine, and listen for the quiet voice inside you. It always knows.

Blessed Be
